Teak

Kannimara Teak: Located in the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve in Palakkad, this is one of the world's largest living teak trees. It is roughly 500 years old, stands 41.83 meters tall, and has a massive girth of 7.24 meters.

Tectona grandis, commonly known as Teak, is a large, deciduous tree that is highly valued for its durable, water-resistant timber. It features a straight, cylindrical trunk with a greyish-brown, fibrous bark that often peels in long strips. The leaves are large, opposite, and ovate, providing a dense canopy. This tree is iconic in Indian forests, particularly in the central and southern regions, where it forms extensive deciduous woodlands.

In traditional medicine, various parts of the teak tree are used. The bark is sometimes used for treating bronchitis and hyperacidity. The oil extracted from the seeds is used to promote hair growth and treat skin conditions. The leaves are known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
